【English】How-to Wheelie Front up Off road moto! 【trial Enduro Motorcycle Technique】
Step 1: WHEELIE ON AN UP-HILL Here are my advices for you. 1. On an up-hill, you can lift the front wheel up easily with just throttle on when you are climbing the slope. 2. Please be careful not to lift the front wheel too high for safety. Try little by little until you get used to do it. 3. Please do not try to pull your handlebar with your arms or with your hips. 4. You better keep your body position in the center. I mean not leaning forward or not put your hips rearward. This is important in the case of if there is an obstacle like a step or a log, on the top of the hill or very soon after the top. Keep your body position in the center to prepare to go over it for the moment when you have arrived there. 5. Straighten your back. This way, you can get better traction for the rear tire. Please, do not bend your arms or knees. It will leads to un-weight on the foot pegs and you will loose the traction. I gave you my advice about not to bend your arms but in the slow motion video, you may be noticed about my arms are a bit bending. The reason is I used normal moto. It means the space is not enough to take centering position while I am climbing. Thefore I had to do it. Okay!? You can get a help from an wave to lift the front wheel up. Here are my advices for you. Step 2: WHEELIE ON AN WAVE TERRAIN This is an wave or a bump, shape like a camel back. 1. Use an wave to compress the front suspension and get the re-bounce to lift the front wheel up. 2. The throttle should be on while the front suspension is sagging. If the front suspension has already returned to the right position, it is too late to get re-bounce. 3. Timing for the throttle on is not easy. Because the move of the suspension is fast. Therefore the throttle should be on a bit faster timing than you might think. These things are important for the wheelie on an wave. Especially the harmony of the move of suspension and the throttle timing is very important. Please practice until you get the right timing. Step 3: WHEELIE ON A FLAT PLACE WITH USING BODY ACTION How was your practice about wheelie on a slope and a wave. Aloso you can use a small stone on the ground for the front wheel up. After you have tried those things, the next step is the wheelie on a flat place, without a help from a slope, a wave and a stone. There are 2 ways for you this time. The one is lifting the front wheel up by body action with the throttle on. Here are my advices for you. 1. There is a risk to fall rearward if you lift the front wheel too much. SELLOW is heavier and this will reduce the risk a bit more than lighter moto. But even so, please be careful to not throttle on too much. Do not forget to take a step by step process until you get used to do it. 2. In the flat place, use the re-bounce of the front suspension to lift the front wheel up. To get the rebounce, you shoud com-press the front suspension by your body action. For this, you should squat on the foot pegs. 3. After squat, your body is going up and up till stratch position, it is the moment that your max weight will be on the foot pegs. This will com-press the rear suspension and you will get the max truaction for the rear tire. 4. All you need is the harmony of getting re-bouce of front suspension and compress of rear suspension and in the same time, throttle on in the moment. 5. After your body has already stretched, it is too late to throttle on to lift the front wheel up. Even though you try to pull the handlebar with your arms or hips, it doesn’t work much. So do not miss the right timing. That is very important. In the slow video, you can see the suspension is compressed in the moment when my knees have stretched after squat. You can get much more re-bounce of suspension by using front brake and rear brake. Here are my advices for you 1. Compress the front and rear suspensions by braking. You can get much more re-bounce than compressing it by the body action. 2. You should use the clutch when you stop by brakes even a second. 3. Throttle on with release the clutch when the suspension is sagged. After throttle on, reduce the throttle quickly for your safety. 4. This technique needs a lot of work. Such as Pull the front brake, tap the rear brake, pull the clutch, compress the suspensions, stretch you body, throttle on, and release the clutch… etc. Therefore I can say it is a kind of an expert level technique. But it works when you want to do wheelie on a flat place. So you better try. This “SERROW“ is normal at all. Therefore the handlebar angle, tires, gear ratio, all normal and not modified for Trial. This could be a good sample that may be you can do the same thing with your moto. Do not forget that off-road moto is heavy and be careful about it. They say “only practice makes perfect”. I hope this video will be a help to improve your off road riding. When you practice, choose the right place and do not disturb any other people. Okay?
