BMW’s motorcycles have been still loved by many touring riders in Japan.
The strong and quiet engine of BMW’s was adopted by successful cars like Beetle, Volks Wagen, Citroen 2CV etc.
The sidecar fitted to the BMW in the photo is Jawa that had fully copied BMW like Japanese DSK.
Many motorcycle makers had been making the almost same models of BMW.
It shows us how excellent the original BMW is.
We, however, can see few BMWs in motorsports.
BMW didn’t almost flourish in motorsports field after the war.
There is an episode.
When Steve Mcqueen’s masterpiece [the Great Escape], was shot in 1963, he had difficulty with the famous jumping scene, as you know, so he exchanged a heavy BMW for his own Triumph.
